Vienna Art Week

One of Austria’s most important and largest visual arts festivals will return to Vienna in 2026. From November 6 to 13, various locations throughout Vienna will be dedicated to art.

The theme for 2026 is “Navigating Angst” (Navigating Fear). It addresses a feeling that is omnipresent yet rarely precisely defined: fear. How does art navigate us through the complexities of the present? And how do we navigate art through the treacherous waters of political turmoil?

During this week, the Austrian capital will be transformed into a vibrant center of contemporary art, connecting galleries, museums, studios and independent art spaces. The festival offers numerous exhibitions, discussions, performances, workshops and open studios, giving visitors a direct insight into the artistic creative process.

The MuseumsQuartier (MQ) traditionally serves as the main center of the festival, but many other well-known venues such as Albertina Modern, Kunsthalle Wien or Belvedere 21 also take part. Over 70 institutions are involved in Vienna Art Week, and each year the event attracts more than 35,000 visitors. Most events are free of charge or only accessible with a symbolic entrance fee, making the festival open to a wide audience.

Vienna Art Week is therefore a unique opportunity to experience Vienna as a city of creativity, innovation and open dialogue between art, technology and society.
