A pumpkin wonderland close to Vienna

Just a stone’s throw from Vienna, in the idyllic village of Hintersdorf near Tulln, lies a true autumn treasure – the Franzlbauer pumpkin farm. This family-run farm, now in its fourth generation, is known throughout the region for its impressive pumpkin exhibition in autumn.

Every year from the beginning of September to the end of October, the old barn is transformed into a magical world of pumpkins in all sizes, shapes and colors. Visitors can discover over 400 different pumpkin varieties here – from edible to decorative to giant specimens. The exhibition is lovingly decorated and offers countless photo opportunities – perfect for autumn family photos.

But Franzlbauer is much more than just pumpkins. The farm also offers many fresh products from its own production – including zucchinis, garlic, tomatoes, melons, aronia berries, homemade jams, liqueurs and, of course, high-quality pumpkin seed oil. At the weekends, there are also tastings and hearty pumpkin dishes straight from the farm.

In addition to the impressive pumpkin collection, the farm also offers many regional products: Pumpkin seed oil, jams, fresh vegetables, juices, liqueurs and more – all homemade or straight from the field. At weekends, there is a small buffet with hearty pumpkin specialties, which is particularly popular.

Children are also catered for: they can romp around on the hay bale area, paint pumpkins or simply discover country life. The farm is open daily from 9:00 to 19:00 during the season. Admission is free, but only cash payment is possible, so don’t forget to take enough cash with you. If you prefer to keep things quiet, visit the farm during the week, as it can get very busy at weekends. Franzlbauer Kürbishof is a wonderful example of how tradition, nature and a love of regional produce can be combined to create a special experience.
