The South Tower of Vienna’s St. Stephen’s Cathedral, affectionately known as the \”Steffl,\” is one of the city’s most iconic landmarks. Standing at 136 meters tall, this gothic masterpiece offers breathtaking panoramic views over Vienna — but you’ll need to climb 343 narrow, winding steps to earn them.

What to Expect
1. Climbing the Tower
The South Tower climb leads you up 343 steps through a narrow spiral staircase to an observation platform at around 67 meters high. Along the way, you’ll pass gothic stone carvings and architectural details dating back to the 14th century. At the top, you’ll be rewarded with a 360-degree view of Vienna: the old town, the Danube, the hills surrounding the city — it’s a photographer’s dream.

2. Tickets and Opening Hours
Entrance to the South Tower typically costs around €6.50 for adults and €2.50 for children (ages 6–14). The tower is open daily, usually from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Access to the cathedral itself requires a separate ticket, priced at approximately €7.

3. Additional Attractions
You can enhance your visit with combined tickets that include access to other parts of the cathedral: the main nave, the catacombs, the North Tower (with the Pummerin bell), and the treasury. All-inclusive passes (approx. €25) are also available, often including audio guides and entry to all major areas.

Date & Time: Open daily, 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Location: St. Stephen’s Cathedral, Stephansplatz 3, 1010 Vienna
Admission: South Tower ~€6.50 (adults), ~€2.50 (children); Cathedral ~€7; Combo tickets from ~€25
