Cultural Summer Vienna

Anyone visiting Vienna in July shouldn’t miss the Sommerkultur Vienna. During these weeks, the entire city transforms into a giant open-air living room: hundreds of free events are spread across all 23 districts.

Whether in parks, public squares, or charming courtyards – the Summer of Culture brings art directly to the people. From captivating music to theater and literature, dance, and special programs for children, there’s something for everyone. And the best part? The program is not only exciting and diverse, but also completely free!

From classical music to rock and jazz to electronic music, there truly is something for every taste. It’s the perfect opportunity to discover some of Vienna’s lesser-known corners while experiencing top-notch culture.

This year’s Summer of Culture opens with a concert by the Vienna Symphony Orchestra. The program includes works by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Leonard Bernstein, Jeanine Tesori, and more.
The concert begins at 7:30 p.m., but doors open at 5:00 p.m. Due to the expected high attendance, we recommend arriving early.

Tip: Many places also offer picnic areas. We recommend simply bringing a blanket and enjoying a summer day in a cultural atmosphere.
