Resonanzen Vienna

Pythagoras of Samos in the 6th century BC already assumed that the movements of the planets created a harmony of the spheres that was inaudible to humans. The »Resonances« 2024 now envelop the main actors of our solar system in a unique atmosphere of music and history, bringing even the most inhospitable planet to sonorous life. On eight evenings, you will experience the wonderful harmonies of higher spheres thanks to renowned ensembles and soloists of historical performance practice.

Two planets – Venus and Mercury – will be treated on one day, January 21, 2024. The nimble Mercury, god of travelers, will exceptionally be considered as part of a resonance »prelude« on the podium of the Great Hall: A unique opportunity for the young British ensemble Apollo’s Cabinet to wow the audience with a semi-staged program on Mercury right off the bat – exactly where Les Talens Lyriques will present the first complete performance of a tragédie en musique by Lully at the Wiener Konzerthaus the evening before.
