Wir sind Wien Festival

Whether parks, squares, churches, castles or gaps between buildings, the WIR SIND WIEN.FESTIVAL turns the most unusual places into a stage. From 1 June in the 1st district to 23 June in the 23rd district, we will take you on a cultural journey through the whole of Vienna, more varied and diverse than ever. With free admission and for everyone in Vienna!

Making art and culture equally accessible to everyone is the great ambition that the WIR SIND WIEN.FESTIVAL remains true to in its 16th festival edition. We cover the entire city with a varied programme in which all residents and visitors to Vienna can find themselves, regardless of their social, cultural or demographic location. ‘BASiS.KULTUR.WiEN sees art and culture as a unifying element that playfully invites people to engage with new and unfamiliar things and encourages dialogue. We invite everyone to start the summer with us and explore the city!’ says Monika Erb, Managing Director of BASiS.KULTUR.WiEN.

In this year’s festival edition, we are not only bringing art and culture to decentralised locations, but also creating a photographic monument to our wonderful audience. For the travelling exhibition WIR SIND WIEN.ALLE, photographer Sigrid Mayer took portraits of 23 Viennese people. The charming and characterful portraits tour with us through all 23 districts and visualise the diversity of Vienna.
