Vienna Citrus Days

For the 21st time, the Viennese #Citrus Days will take place in the Palm House in Schönbrunn Palace Park. Look forward to the special plants of the Austrian Federal Gardens, orange and lemon varieties that you have probably never seen before (except at the Citrus Days), taste them at the tastings and look forward to the diverse offer of our vendors. You can purchase plants, processed fruits, books and much more, and consume many culinary delicacies on-site.

Mediterranean plants have been overwintered in the Schönbrunn Orangery building for almost 280 years. On the occasion of the Vienna Citrus Days, the 1,200 m2 wintering hall is transformed into an impressive exhibition hall every year. In recent years, the event has become a fixed date in the calendar of domestic and foreign citrus enthusiasts. The focus is on the important specimens from the historic citrus plant collection of the Austrian Federal Gardens. In the fitting ambience of the historic Orangery Building, a special exhibition provides information on the extensive subject of citrus plants and their culture.

For visitors’ own collections, specialist businesses offer citrus rarities, plants for the conservatory, and selected summer flowers and herbs. Garden accessories, organic pesticides, specialist books, spices and numerous culinary specialities round off the wide range on offer. During guided tours and lectures, visitors will learn many new things about citrus and the historical botanical collection of the Austrian Federal Gardens. And for very special questions, the specialists of the Austrian Federal Gardens and the Austrian Horticultural Society will be available every day.
