The Scorpios

The concert is part of the Fasching X Selam collaboration.

Originally from Sudan, London-based The Scorpios blend Arabic rhythms and guitars with a raw funk feel in a music that owes as much to Detroit as to Khartoum.

Having fled the takeover of Sudan in the 1980s, the band is now, from its London base, breaking down all attempts to establish cultural boundaries.

In 2018, the band released the hit single Mashena, which landed in a big way with DJs around the world. With heavy basslines, synths, brass and percussion marrying traditional Sudanese, The Scorpios produce a hypnotic, funk-alloyed Afrobeat.

The ten-piece band comes to Fasching with new material from the new upcoming album “Lemon Barah”.

moe is a Sudanese DJ, dancer and party organizer – co-organizer of ‘Endless Groove’ (non-profit community driven party) and initiator of ‘Black Is…’ (gender-inclusive platform supporting BIPOC voices).
