Club Addis at Fasching

Fasching opens its doors to a new type of club and new music! Addis – new in Amharic – is the name of the club Selam presents in collaboration with Fasching and Brana Entertainment. A home for new dance music from the Horn of Africa.

In Sweden today, club and dance music from Africa is bigger than ever on streaming services and at music festivals and in the media, yet there are no obvious places to go out and dance to it.

While afrobeats, kwaito, kuduro and amapiano are now widely played in dancehall, urban and house clubs, dance music from East Africa has been conspicuously absent from the dance floor. Until now.

Stockholmers now have an obvious place to hear club music from Addis Ababa and other parts of East Africa. “For almost three decades we have arranged concerts from all over the region, but now for the first time we can focus on dance. The music styles include traditions and all sorts of past habesha music, but expect the DJ booth to draw the musical map of the future.

Club Addis will welcome music lovers one Friday night a month starting March 8. Get ready to dance on the opening night, we have the honor of welcoming DJ Baby and DJ Wedi Asress and then we’re going to kick ass!
