Easter exhibition

The Easter atmosphere will come alive this year in the historic setting of the Charles Bridge Museum, where the exhibition “Šumava Easter” will take place from March 29 to May 24, 2026.

The exhibition presents a unique overview of sacred art from the Šumava region, ranging from the late Gothic period to the present day. One of the most significant exhibits is a polychrome wooden sculpture of the Pietà from Podlesí, dating back to 1510–1520 and attributed to the Master of the Lamentation of Christ from Zvíkov. This piece is considered one of the most valuable examples of Czech late Gothic art and represents a true historical treasure.

The exhibition will also feature a detailed, life-size replica of the Shroud of Turin, believed to be the burial cloth of Jesus Christ. Visitors will be able to closely examine its structure and the image of a figure bearing marks of suffering described in biblical texts.

The experience is further enhanced by a visit to the museum’s baroque café, where guests can taste egg-based specialties and enjoy a traditional egg liqueur. The concept also connects to an interesting legend associated with the Charles Bridge, which was said to have been reinforced with eggs during its construction.

The “Šumava Easter” exhibition combines history, art, and tradition, making it a perfect choice for a calmer, culturally oriented spring activity in Prague.
