Theatre can be a powerful tool for opening up important conversations – and that’s exactly what Venušiny dny brings. From April 17 to 26, 2026, the eleventh edition of this unique festival will take place at Venuše ve Švehlovce, offering a program focused on women’s lived experiences in both contemporary society and historical contexts.

The festival will present eight performances, including world premieres, works by local creators, and guest ensembles from Moravia and Slovakia. This year’s dramaturgy explores the question of how much power an individual has when facing injustice and established power structures. Through stories of strong female figures from different periods, the festival addresses themes of courage, resistance, and solidarity.

Among the highlights are three premieres. The production Věra Jirousová sheds light on the personal story of a woman connected to the Czech dissident movement, while Universal Romance explores the evolution of how we perceive love and relationships. The dance piece Anima Mundi seeks deeper connections between people and reflects on the role of femininity in a broader human context.

The festival also maintains an international dimension, featuring Slovak theatre groups with performances focused on women’s experiences and intergenerational themes. Czech productions will also be represented, including works by Divadlo Nacucky from Brno and resident artists of Venuše ve Švehlovce.

The event will conclude with the traditional “Venuše Night” – an evening that blends music, performance, and a party atmosphere. Expect an original fusion of opera, techno, and indie rock to close the festival on a high note.
