If you’d like to discover Budapest from a completely different perspective, you can do so in your running shoes on September 26. That’s when Run Your City Budapest—an urban running event sponsored by PUMA—takes place, combining sports, music, and a community experience in City Park.
The program features a 5-kilometer community run, starting from Lizsé in City Park. The route passes by iconic Budapest landmarks such as the Széchenyi Baths, Vajdahunyad Castle, the Hungarian House of Music, the Museum of Ethnography, Andrássy Avenue, and Heroes’ Square. Music will accompany the run from start to finish, making the atmosphere an important part of the event alongside the sport itself.
The afternoon kicks off at 2:30 p.m., and before the run, participants will have the opportunity to try out the latest PUMA NITRO running shoes. The group warm-up will be led by Olympic champion pentathlete Michelle Gulyás, and the run will be directed by running coaches Dóra Pajor and Gábor Pajor. Several Olympians, champions, and PUMA ambassadors will also be participating in the event.
The program doesn’t end after the run: starting at 5:15 p.m., pizza, refreshments, and a chance to relax together await participants in City Park until the event closes at 7:30 p.m. According to the organizers, the event is not a traditional race but a community run, where the shared experience and physical activity take center stage.
Participation is completely free, but advance registration is required. The event has a limited capacity; according to current information on the official website, the main list is already full, so you can now sign up for the waiting list. The first 100 registrants were to receive a limited-edition PUMA × RUN YOUR CITY T-shirt, and the next 150 participants were to receive a PUMA water bottle or backpack, but these gifts have since sold out.
