Coldplay Candlelight Concert

For a few special nights this August, Budapest’s City Park Lake transforms into a glowing spectacle of light and music. The Candle Lake concert series brings thousands of floating candles to the surface of the water, while the most iconic Coldplay songs come to life through live performances by string quartets. It’s one of the most magical summer experiences in Budapest – an evening where nature, classical instruments, and candlelight come together to create an unforgettable atmosphere.

The venue itself – the picturesque Boating Lake at City Park (Városliget) – is stunning on its own. Guests are invited to arrive early to enjoy the sunset by the lake with a refreshing drink in hand before the concert begins. The show starts at 9:00 PM and lasts approximately one hour. String quartets like the Surprise String Quartet, À La Quartet, and Caprice Quartet reinterpret Coldplay’s most beloved songs – including Fix You, Paradise, Viva La Vida, and Yellow. The fusion of sound, light, and water creates a deeply immersive experience – both musically and visually.

The evening doesn’t end with the final note. Guests are encouraged to linger for a drink, a quiet conversation, or simply to take in the atmosphere. As an open-air event, each concert has a scheduled rain date, ensuring the magic continues even in case of bad weather. More than just a concert, Candle Lake is a sensory experience that turns a familiar urban space into something intimate and unforgettable.
