On August 16, aviation fans and curious visitors alike are invited to a truly unique evening experience. Once again, Aeropark hosts the Night of the Airport, where guests can immerse themselves in the world of aviation—past and present—surrounded by night lights, historic aircraft, behind-the-scenes tours, and unforgettable programs. This special event offers a rare opportunity to explore the hidden corners of Budapest Airport under the stars.
Throughout the evening, the aircraft on display at Aeropark remain open for visitors, often accompanied by former pilots and flight attendants who share stories and personal experiences. Visitors can step into iconic cockpits, explore vintage cabin interiors, and get a sense of what flying was like during the golden era of Malév. The event also features guided tours, flight simulators, and technical demonstrations that bring the world of aviation vividly to life.
One of the highlights of the night is the Li-2 nostalgia flight, where passengers can take to the skies aboard a historic aircraft—a rare chance to fly in a classic type that once defined Hungarian civil aviation. Additional experiences include airport apron bus tours, which take guests deep into operational areas of Budapest Airport, and guided hangar visits, where aviation maintenance and ground operations are revealed up close.
Families with children will find plenty of engaging activities: model plane workshops, flight-themed games, and interactive exhibits are all part of the program. Meanwhile, parents and adult visitors can relax and refuel at the food trucks and refreshment zones set up throughout the park. The atmosphere will be made even more magical by dramatic lighting—hundreds of spotlights illuminating the aircraft and the museum grounds, creating a striking visual backdrop.
The Night of the Airport is an ideal choice for anyone curious about aviation—whether they’re lifelong enthusiasts or simply drawn to the spectacle of aircraft and air travel. It’s an evening that blends history, technology and wonder into one immersive and memorable experience.
