Sauska cellar tour

On the Sauska cellar tour you can get an insight into the secrets of Budafok’s famous cellar system and the art of traditional champagne making. As part of the programme you can take part in a 1-hour guided tour, including a tasting of course. After the cellar tour, you are guaranteed to return home with a unique experience.

The 10,000 square metre section of Budafok’s robust cellar system has been home to the world’s award-winning Sauska sparkling wines since 2015.

This is the workshop where the dry base wines made from grapes grown in the winery’s own Tokaj vineyards are brought and refined into sparkling wine. On cellar tour, winemakers will tell you about Tokaj, the history of Budafok and cellar, the secrets of making traditional ageing sparkling wines, take you on a mystical journey through time in the secret cellar, and of course, taste some of it.

The walk will start on time, organizers cannot wait for latecomers and due to the nature of cellar, you cannot join the group later. Everyone can participate in the tour at their own risk. No alcohol to minors under 18 years of age, even if they buy a full-price ticket. Comfortable shoes and clothing suitable for cellar temperatures of 13°C are recommended. Please note that the cellar tour is not recommended for small children, visitors with pushchairs or those who are sensitive to noise and light.
