Masterpiece projection and discussion

After the screening, you will have the chance to meet the filmmakers and cast, who will give you a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film. This event promises to be an unforgettable experience not only for fans of the film, but for all cinema lovers.

The best Hungarian films of the last few years will be presented in a beautiful, panoramic, dog-friendly location in the heart of Budapest. Before the screening, we will talk to one of the film’s creators, the director, the cinematographer or the main character, who will give us a behind-the-scenes look at the film and tell us about the preparation, the shooting and the afterlife of the film.

In this free adaptation of Stefan Zweig’s chess novella, Márta (Sára Varga-Járó) and István (Gergely Váradi) try to leave Hungary in November ’56 on the last refugee train. Alongside the young couple, the priceless relics of the Church are also on their way to the western border, to the free world, which the men of power are trying to torture out of B (Károly Hajduk), a Catholic priest. The characters’ stories intersect on the train in an all-decisive game of chess, in which not only the fate of the treasures but also the lives of the lovers are at stake.
