Mayale of Museums

This weekend is the Mayale of Museums, with a free programme of events. The event will feature interactive exhibitions, art workshops and exciting performances for fun and learning for all ages. Don’t miss this cultural cavalcade!

The country’s biggest museum showcase on the occasion of ICOM World Museum Day (18 May), celebrating traditions, customs and heritage!
Free family activities, concerts, prize draws and a festival atmosphere all weekend long!
Museum presentations in the Museum Garden: 10:00-18:00
Hungarian National Museum open: 10:00-20:00
Museum Garden opening hours: 6:00-22:00
The National Museum building and the exhibitions are open to the public free of charge during the Mayal of Museums.

Tour the museum tents and discover nearly 80 exhibiting museums from all over the country.
Knowledge Walk – Prize draw:
Ask for a Mayale of Museums map and programme booklet at the Mayale Info Point at the Museum Gardens or at the MNM Information Desk. Visit the museums marked on the map in the Museum Garden. Play and answer questions well at the tents! Get 10 stamps with the right answers and you could win one of 500 gift packs a day! You can pick up the gifts at the May Fair Info Point!
Artifacts:
A community installation of exciting collection pieces from exhibiting museums in the spirit of recycling, transformation and sustainability!

Tandem-Photography and cycling outdoor exhibition:
A selection of images from one of the largest photo collections in the country, the Historical Photographic Collection of the Hungarian National Museum, gives an insight into the history of cycling culture over nearly a century and a half.
