The recently opened Nokedlish streetfood restaurant in the centre of town offers visitors a real gastronomic experience. The shop on Vas Street, just a few square metres in size, focuses on a cheap, filling and delicious Hungarian street food – nokedlish, as the name suggests. In Hungarian gastronomy, nokedli is usually only a side dish (but one of the most popular), except in spring, when it is replaced by lettuce and becomes the main focus. In addition, it is most often found on Hungarian tables alongside mushroom or chicken paprikash. It is thanks to Ádám Gottreich-Horváth that noodles have become street food in a bold and innovative way. The concept of Nokedlish is simple: the basic nokedli is plain and free of everything, and then the different sauces and toppings are added.
The toppings include mushrooms, spinach, jalapeño, souvlaki chicken or beef, and if that’s not enough, you can also ask for spicy beta salsa and various flavoured sour cream. When it’s in season, egg noodles with lettuce are also on the menu, but there are also special American-inspired extras like noc ′n′ cheese.
