The main theme of this year’s event is related to the Petőfi commemorative year, “I turned to the kitchen…”, focusing on the utensils of the folk peasant kitchen. The craftsmen will present kitchen utensils that can be useful accessories in today’s modern kitchens, such as pottery, cooking and baking utensils, home and kitchen textiles, storage containers, and utensils made of wicker, chaff and wicker.

This year, on 20 August, the masters will celebrate the feast of St Stephen with a parade of the harvest procession and a solemn bread offering, reviving a centuries-old tradition.
The parade will start at 14.30 from the statue of András Hadik, which will go along Szentháromság Street to Tóth Árpád promenade, then along Dísz Square via Tárnok Street to Szentháromság Square, where the solemn bread offering will take place at 15.00.

This year’s guest of honour will be the Czech Republic, in cooperation with the National Folk Art Institute (Národní ústav lidové kultury) in Strážnice, where we will welcome craftsmen from the Czech Republic. Visitors will be able to learn about traditional folk crafts in the workshops of the craftsmen, including weaving, blue-dyeing, percussion woodworking, embroidery and wool processing.

Venue: Buda Castle
Date: 17-20 August
