Budapest Photo Festival 2024

The annual Photo Festival, which has been held every year since 2017, is open from 22 March to 12 May. If you’re looking to immerse yourself in international and national contemporary photography exhibitions, don’t miss this year’s edition. With the involvement of several museums and galleries in Budapest, the organisers are expecting visitors to enjoy some of the highest quality exhibitions this year.

The annual festival regularly brings together and connects the contemporary Hungarian and international photography scene and the public. The series of events includes programmes open to the general public, workshops, museum educational events, contemporary young photographic professionals and portfolio reviews. This year’s exhibition will focus on the Women in Focus exhibition at the Kunsthalle. In 2024, the BUDAPEST PHOTO FESTIVAL, in collaboration with the MŰCSARNOK, will once again launch its programme with a major exhibition, which, as in its 8th year, will once again present the most important figures in universal photography. Women in Focus features a selection of works by Eve Arnold, Nanna Heitmann, Susan Meiselas, Inge Morath and Marilyn Silverstone. The five female photographers at Magnum Photos are emblematic of the agency’s ethos of humanist photography. Celebrity, power, religion, tradition, minority existence and disenfranchisement are some of the themes that have preoccupied them all. As committed artists with a feminine sensibility, they approached their subjects with empathy and situational awareness, both in portraiture and in social documentary series.
