The little prince is known and loved by generations around the world. The play, based on the deservedly popular book, is already being performed in Budapest this year. The Erkel Theatre is looking forward to welcoming young and old to this high-quality performance, which is a great programme for the whole family.
One of the best-selling and most translated books of all time, The Little Prince celebrates the 80th anniversary of its first edition this year. Based on the book, the theatre production will be available in Budapest from 14 February 2024, following sold-out performances in Paris, Sydney and Dubai, and a full season at the Brodway. The latest stage adaptation – full of theatrical spectacle, dance and acrobatics – uses video mapping technology, which is still little known, to literally bring to life the classic adventure story beloved by generations.

The Little Prince production features a highly acclaimed creative team led by director and choreographer Anne Tournié, with lyrics by co-director Chris Mouron and original music by Terry Truck. Other members of the team are assistant choreographer Noellie Bordelet, video designer Marie Jumelin, costume designer Peggy Housset, lighting designer Stéphane Fritsch, sound designer Tristan Viscogliosi, projection designer Etienne Beaussart, hair and make-up designer Carmen Arbues Miro and prop designer Aurélie Gandilhon.
The novel has been translated into 250 languages and, incredibly, has sold 200 million copies, making it the second best-selling book of all time. This wonderful theatrical adaptation of a timeless classic has taught many that “what is truly important is invisible to the eye”.
