Hungarian Jazz Festival

On Sunday, August 23, 2026, the Hungarian Jazz Day will be held for the fourth time at the House of Music Hungary. The all-day programme celebrates the diversity of Hungarian jazz, showcasing different eras, styles and performers from the genre.

Organized jointly by the Hungarian Jazz Federation and the House of Music Hungary, the event offers concerts and indoor programmes throughout the day, while leading figures of the Hungarian jazz scene take turns performing on the outdoor stage. The best part is that the outdoor concerts are free to attend, making this a perfect choice for a full Sunday programme.

Debrecen Dixieland Jazz Band

• The afternoon begins with one of Hungary’s popular representatives of traditional jazz. The Debrecen Dixieland Jazz Band performs well-known dixieland classics in their own arrangements and interpretations. Their light-hearted, cheerful and energetic sound is a perfect way to start a summer Sunday afternoon.

Barabás Lőrinc Quartet

• Next up is Barabás Lőrinc and his quartet. Their music combines jazz and instrumental pop with elements of several other styles, making their performance an interesting choice even for those who are not exclusively fans of traditional jazz.

Hodek Trio

• The Hodek Trio brings a performance built around precise rhythms, deep grooves and virtuosic instrumental playing. Their concert is particularly appealing to those who enjoy a more modern and energetic approach to jazz.

Coltrane Legacy

• This six-member ensemble pays tribute to the musical legacy of John Coltrane. Coltrane Legacy was formed to mark the 50th anniversary of the legendary saxophonist’s death and has continued to celebrate and preserve his musical heritage ever since. It is likely to be one of the most special performances of the day for jazz enthusiasts.

Gájer Bálint and his band

• The evening will conclude with Gájer Bálint and his band. Their performance brings together the classic worlds of swing, jazz and rock and roll, combined with a modern, energetic style and an elegant stage presence. It is the perfect way to round off a full day of jazz.
