With the Gozsdu Green Market, we would like to smuggle a green spot into the city, with Hungarian handmade and design products and a wide range of sustainable items. Beyond the market, we prepare with eco-friendly workshops, live music and more attractions.
Gozsdu Green Market is market held every Sunday where residents of the area and Budapest can buy the everyday products they need to live a greener, more sustainable life.
The range of products includes small-scale food producers, homemade fudge, fresh strawberries and homemade bread with potatoes to prepare for the week ahead. But the vegan delicacies, special jams, lavender syrup, cow’s cheese with toadflax, rye duck liver pâté or even chilli strawberry jam are all specialities that you won’t find elsewhere.
Another important reason to go to the market is to buy household items that are useful in everyday life. At Gozsdu Green Market, you can find a lot of things for that. There is a wide range of ceramic tableware and household textiles, which can replace many single-use plastics in our lives. For example, they sell handy sandwich wrapping napkins, small mesh bags and even eco dishwasher capsules for the environmentally conscious. There’s no shortage of natural cosmetics and pretty soaps that you’ll want to bite into, some of them smell like cookies.
The sustainable products don’t stop there, as the market strives to ensure that the fashion and home decor products on offer are also made in an environmentally responsible way. Many bags, jewellery and clothes made from organic and recycled textiles are on display. To give specific examples, they sell mobile phone cases made from biodegradable plastic, vegetable tanned leather products, vegetable dyed fashion accessories, organic cotton t-shirts and jewellery made from flowers.
Exciting products are on offer every week, with many exhibitors a regular part of the Green Market team, but it’s also worth a regular Sunday stroll to Gozsdu Courtyard for a regular visit, as there are new artisans arriving all the time, with only occasional encounters. The organisers introduce the new exhibitors each week on their social media pages, so visitors can find out first-hand what to expect that weekend.
Occasionally, you can also join in workshops, for example a macramé workshop where you can make a flowerpot, or a children’s day where you can try your hand at weaving. And henna painting is available almost every week. Many more surprises are planned for the future.
A good atmosphere is guaranteed, the vendors are friendly and helpful, the quality of the offer is high and the location is inviting, as you can always stop for lunch or a drink in a friendly restaurant or bar while you are at the market. Be sure to visit one of these Sundays!
