Hello Summer Gala

On the longest day of the year—June 21—a special event awaits visitors on Jegenye Street in Budapest: the “Hello Summer!” Chinese Cultural Gala. Throughout the evening, guests can experience authentic Chinese traditions through colorful performances and hands-on workshops. The program commemorates the XiaZhi Festival, a summer solstice celebration in Chinese culture that honors the arrival of summer and pays tribute to ancestors.

The event will feature a variety of spectacular live performances, including lion dance, Peking opera, folk dances, a qipao fashion show, and taichi demonstrations. Simultaneously, visitors can take part in various crafts such as kite-making, coloring traditional hanfu garments, and trying classic Chinese games.

Those interested in Chinese culture can also explore calligraphy and traditional painting, while sampling refreshing seasonal foods and herbal teas associated with the XiaZhi Festival. The event is open to all ages, dog-friendly, and completely free of charge.

The location is in the courtyard at 30 Jegenye Street, 1107 Budapest, next to the Wan Hao Restaurant. Free parking is available via the entrance at 5 Monori Street, and card payments are accepted on site.
