Enjoy the medieval flair above the rooftops of Kapfenberg! The castle “Burg Chaffenberch” was first mentioned in a document in 1173. The present castle was built around 1264. It was the residence and administrative seat
of the Counts of Stubenberg and the seat of the regional supreme court for most of the Mürz Valley.

With its multi-faceted programme and special rooms with a unique flair, Oberkapfenberg Castle is an ideal destination for your trip.

Oberkapfenberg Castle is happy to show its versatility. It houses a castle falconry, exhibition rooms and function rooms. Guided tours of the castle or knights’ games are offered to guests. The annual knights’ festival is a highlight for all medieval fans.
