Throughout August, the roof of the Vienna Main Library at Urban-Loritz-Platz will be transformed into an atmospheric open-air cinema with a unique flair.
Cinema on the Roof invites film lovers to experience unforgettable evenings with hand-picked films and spectacular sunsets over the rooftops of Vienna.
A place of knowledge by day, a stage for cinematic moments by night: The roof terrace of the Main Library will become one of the city’s most popular cultural venues in the summer. The 2026 edition runs daily throughout August, weather permitting. This year’s theme is “Mind Games“.
The screenings begin at sunset, around 8:30 p.m. Drinks and snacks will be available on site, but you are also welcome to bring your own blankets or cushions for a cozy getaway. Seating is limited (approximately 80), ensuring an intimate yet communal atmosphere.
Whether it’s a date, a cultural evening with friends, or a summer film under the open sky, the rooftop cinema is a must-see in August.
