6. Small Market Square

Small Square has its own charming atmosphere and the cutest historic buildings around including the Jesuit Monastery (green building), the backs of St. Barbara’s Church (orangey-red building) and St. Mary’s Church. It has a rich trading history dating back to the Middle Ages – it was planned as an auxiliary marketplace to the Main Market Square – meat and fish were traded here many, many years ago. 7. Collegium Maius

Collegium Maius is the oldest building of the Jagiellonian University and a magnificent example of 15th-century Gothic architecture. There is a beautiful arcaded courtyard with a well in the middle. Also, you will see an antique staircase (the bigger one is dubbed the Professors’ Stairs) leading to the first floor. The famous courtyard clock performs a little show with wooden figures of kings and professors every second hour. Also, Collegium Maius houses the Jagiellonian University Museum displays the college’s historic architecture and even its impressive collection of 16th-century scientific equipment.
