Budapest International Film Festival

Discover the most exciting works of contemporary cinema at the Budapest International Film Festival (BIFF), which once again transforms Budapest into a meeting place for film lovers at the end of October!

This independent film festival showcases bold and innovative films that reflect the diversity of the world, ranging from award-winning titles from international festivals to the distinctive visions of emerging directors.

The festival’s three main sections offer a variety of cinematic experiences. The Budapest Bloom competition presents fresh, daring voices in contemporary cinema; the Echoes selection brings acclaimed, must-see films from major international film festivals to Budapest; while Anzix, the experimental film section, focuses on unconventional works that push the boundaries of traditional storytelling. The programme is further enriched by themed retrospective screenings.

Most screenings take place at Corvin Cinema, but BIFF also brings films to some of Budapest’s lesser-known and more unusual venues. Talks, exhibitions, masterclasses, industry events and parties complete the festival experience, making it an exciting opportunity to connect with others beyond the cinema screen.

If you love distinctive films, are open to new cinematic trends and enjoy discovering the latest works in international cinema, BIFF could be the perfect autumn programme for you!
