The MiraTone Festival and Academy will take place in Budapest from August 22 to 30, and over the past few years it has become one of Central Europe’s most exciting international classical music festivals. During the nine-day event, internationally acclaimed artists will take the stage, while young musicians will showcase their talent through masterclasses and the MiraTone Young Artists concert series.
The festival opens on August 22 at FUGA – Budapest Center of Architecture with a concert featuring works by Beethoven performed by the V4 String Quartet. The programme includes a total of twelve major concerts, featuring works by twenty-seven composers.
This year’s festival highlights the 270th anniversary of Mozart’s birth and the 100th birthday of György Kurtág. Audiences can also enjoy iconic works such as Beethoven’s Kreutzer Sonata, Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time, Mozart’s Clarinet Quintet in A major and Ravel’s Piano Trio.
The line-up includes internationally renowned artists such as François Dumont, who will make his Hungarian debut, and Sérgio Pires, principal clarinet of the London Symphony Orchestra. Other performers include Miranda Liu, Krzysztof Książek, Tomáš Jamník and the V4 String Quartet.
The concerts will be held at FUGA – Budapest Center of Architecture and the French Institute, making the festival a great choice for anyone looking for a special cultural experience in the heart of Budapest. Alongside the concerts, hundreds of masterclasses, chamber music rehearsals and professional events will take place throughout the nine-day festival.
