On the stage of the SND Opera, the oriental fairy tale about the cruel Chinese princess Turandot comes to life again with the famous tenor aria “Nessun dorma”. Giacomo Puccini’s last work belongs to those creations that were created at the end of the journeys of great authors, able to maintain the freshness of their spirit even in adulthood and be inspired by everything new and modern that surrounded them.
Originally a Persian legend, later a Chinese play created on the motifs of fairy tales from One Thousand and One Nights by the Italian playwright Carlo Gozzi. And two centuries later brilliantly processed into Giacomo Puccini’s immortal opera with the same name.
Once upon a time, when the sea was everything in the world. Princess Turandot lived in the underwater kingdom of Okakeomare. Turandot turns her back on all the men in the world to avenge the death of her mother, Princess Loring. She decides never to give her heart to anyone, and enjoys the cruel game of her own life of all the men who court her …
A captivating and touching story about love, beauty and cruelty will come to life again on our stage. A story about death and suffering, but also about hope and redemption. The plot is set in an attractive world of supernatural forces and elements. An environment in which the heroes are torn by great feelings, passions and decisions, promises and rejections.
