Do you like astronomy? Or do you just like stargazing or want to experience something unusual? Have you ever observed the universe with a professional telescope?
On Friday, April 24, at 8:00 p.m., outside Devín Castle, in collaboration with professionals from the Slovak Astronomical Society, you will have the opportunity to observe the night sky with their guidance and assistance and point a telescope at celestial objects such as Saturn, binary stars, deep-sky objects, galaxies, and nebulae. 🪐
Visitors will have the opportunity to observe celestial objects through telescopes and learn interesting facts about the night sky in the authentic atmosphere of the castle grounds. During the event, the Moon 🌙 will also be visible above the horizon, offering an engaging viewing experience for young and old alike.
doors open at 8:00 p.m. – telescope demonstrations begin
8:45 p.m. – start of the guided tour of the night sky and stargazing
10:30 p.m. – end of demonstrations
11:00 p.m. – castle closes
Additional information and recommendations:
🧦 Warm clothing and footwear are recommended. The event will take place in the exterior of Devín Castle, and after dark the temperature may feel low.
🚨 For the best viewing experience, please use only red light throughout the event, which will not interfere with the eye’s adjustment to darkness. After illuminating the eye with the white light of a flashlight or cell phone display, it takes at least 20 minutes for the eye to adapt to the dark again.
🔦 If you can’t get a flashlight with a red light, wrap a regular flashlight with red cellophane, red foil, or red cloth.
⚠️ This event is suitable for children aged 5 and over with a ticket purchase required.
