Autumn is in full swing, it’s getting colder outside, the nights are getting shorter. But that doesn’t mean it’s impossible to enjoy great events. We bring you an overview of the most interesting events, events and programmes that you can enjoy during autumn in Bratislava.

1. White Night 2024

One of the most popular events in Bratislava is here again. The first weekend in October will belong to art and the magical atmosphere of the White Night. For three days you can enjoy the architecture of the city, which will be enriched by the works of well-known Slovak and foreign artists, not only in the interiors, but also in the outdoor spaces. You can look forward to visual and sound installations, interactive objects, as well as concerts, film projections and various artistic performances.

2. Il Volo

Il Volo is an Italian pop opera trio, known for their unique blend of classical music and pop, often referred to as “popera”. The group consists of Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto and Gianluca Ginoble. The trio has received multiple nominations for prestigious awards, including Latin Grammys, and has collaborated with several well-known artists including Andrea Bocelli, Barbra Streisand and Placido Domingo.

3. Tasting dinner

Yes, we know that food is usually paired with wine. However, try to taste dishes paired with beer. You can enjoy a specially designed 4-course menu with beer pairing at APOLKA restaurant. Chef Peter Kysucký will take care of it, turning ERB beer from Banská Štiavnica into an exceptional meal where every dish contains beer as an ingredient. Jozef Sivák, the first Slovak beer sommelier and director of the Erb brewery, who completed his educational studies in Salzburg and Munich at the Doemens brewing academy, will also be present.

4. Ghosts at Smolenice Castle

For the eighth time, you and your whole family can be scared at Smolenice Castle. This time you can listen to the story of the young man Rof and the brave Nikolett. Their irresistible desire to explore the world leads them to various adventures and dangers on the ship of the dreaded pirate captain Whitefuse. How will the story of two brave young people end? You will find out in Smolenice Castle. In addition, you can look forward to a Haunted Theater full of spooky stories, creative workshops, various competitions and quizzes, of course various spooky scarecrows, and a craft market.

5. Skin market

The unique educational event is back. Free advice, consultations and expert lectures by dermatologists to raise awareness of skin diseases and their treatment and diagnostic options. In addition, the Skin Market also brings the topic of how to untaboo the psychological stigma and impact on those patients who have visible skin diseases. Each year, the market offers interested patients the opportunity to talk and consult with dermatologists in discreet zones about what is bothering them.

6. Stargazing

If you want to see the stars and the universe with a professional telescope, you have the chance in October in the outdoor spaces of Devín Castle. In the company of professionals from the Slovak Association of Astronomers, you can see celestial objects such as Jupiter and the Moon, as well as galaxies and nebulae. As this is an evening event, don’t forget to dress warmly and wear shoes. Bring your own flashlight, torch or headlamp with red light function for observing. If you don’t have a red-light flashlight, just wrap a regular flashlight with red cellophane, red foil, or red cloth.

7. Be2Can festival Bratislava

This year, you can also enjoy award-winning films from the prestigious festivals in Berlin, Venice and Cannes, which are driving art film in six Bratislava cinemas. The screenings will run until the 16th of October. In addition to great films, the organizers have prepared a discussion by Michal Raven and his guests on the film Megalopolis by the visionary director Francis Ford Coppola.

8. Apple feast

When, if not in autumn! You can enjoy apples on the first weekend of October in various places in the Bratislava region. If you like apples, traditional apple pies, jams, cider or just looking for inspiration for new recipes with apples, you are in the right place. In addition to apple delicacies, there will also be creative workshops, active games for children, an exhibition of paintings, or learning about historical apple varieties.

9. Día de los Muertos

Celebrate the Day of the Dead with dancing and fun? That’s exactly how Mexicans celebrate Dia de los Muertos, the Day of the Dead. Now you can enjoy it in Slovakia too. Skeletons, decorated skulls, but also bright flowers, all this will accompany you on the dance floor in Kácečko and DJs Pabloliquid and Mario Lopez will play until dawn. In addition, you can also enjoy a performance by the Mexican dance troupe La Marquesa, Mexican traditional dances, face painting of “la muerte” motifs and a themed photo booth. Best outfit wins a bottle of tequila!

10. Beer Salon

The autumn edition of the already legendary Beer Salon will take place in the Old Market Hall, as in previous years. There will be no shortage of well-known and lesser-known breweries, larger and smaller, Slovak and foreign. Special guests, excellent beers and a wonderful atmosphere in the Old Market Hall. And the tasting will be in glass cups.

11. LEON Family Centre

If you’re looking for the perfect place to spend the cooler or rainy autumn days with the kids and family, try visiting LEON. In this family centre you will find everything under one roof. For example, swimming classes for babies and children in the saltwater pool, dance and movement classes in the spacious halls, healthy meals in their restaurant. But also 36 trampolines of different sizes, or a unique ninja arena, even with a timekeeper.
