Not since Norah Jones’ breakthrough has jazz had such a luminous poster child as Laufey. Her engaging and supple jazz pop is romantic, cinematic and intimate, and the Icelandic-Chinese prodigy sings with the same deep warmth in her voice as her role model Ella Fitzgerald.

The illusion of time travel is only broken by Laufey’s clever storytelling, which manages to be both contemporary and personal. There is no doubt that Laufey possesses a rare musicality. Already at the age of 15, she performed as a cello soloist with the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra and later studied at the prestigious Berklee College of Music. Today her music is heard all over the world.

After releasing several singles, an EP and building a large social media following with regular live sessions, her debut album ‘Everything I KnowAbout Love’ was released in 2022 and her breakthrough was immediate. With 425 million listens last year, Laufey was the most streamed jazz artist on Spotify. A position she cemented with the possibly even more acclaimed follow-up ‘Bewitched’ released earlier this year. On February 25, Laufey comes to Nalen.
