It was clear from the start that Masego had a singular vision and more than enough talent to realize it. With his distinctive mix of jazz, trap, electronica and the sensual brand of R&B that has come to be known as Quiet Storm, the American-Jamaican singer and saxophonist made an immediate impact with his 2018 debut album ‘Lady Lady’. The concept of traphouse jazz was as irresistible as it was intriguing and proved the perfect backdrop for Masego’s romantic love fantasies.
But if the 2020 debut and follow-up ‘Studying Abroad: Extended Stay’ were fantastic, even stronger adjectives are required to describe the self-titled album released earlier this year. This time, Masego has stripped away all collaborations and guest appearances and stands alone in the spotlight. The album is bold, uncompromising, dynamic and Masego shows that he has no rivals when it comes to weaving a seamless patchwork of different genres.
Now it’s time for the multi-talented Masego to play in Stockholm! On January 26, we will see him at Annexet in Stockholm.
