Just steps from Piazza del Popolo, the Basilica of Santa Maria del Popolo contains a remarkable concentration of masterpieces. Inside are two famous paintings by Caravaggio, The Conversion of Saint Paul and The Crucifixion of Saint Peter, as well as works by Raphael, Bernini and other great artists. The Chigi Chapel was designed by Raphael and later completed with interventions by Bernini. We chose it because one building brings together some of the most important figures in Italian art.
