Hidden in the heart of Rome’s historic centre, the Casanatense Library contains one of the city’s most atmospheric historic library interiors. Its Monumental Hall features tall wooden bookshelves, busts, decorations and thousands of old volumes, creating an almost timeless atmosphere.
The library was founded in 1701 thanks to Cardinal Girolamo Casanate and became an important centre of learning in Rome. We chose it because it is a true hidden gem for anyone interested in literature, history and less familiar corners of the city.
