Cracking Art, regenerating art at Castel Romano. It is an unexpected encounter that between wildlife species of different origins – from penguins, to elephants, to swallows, to dolphins – who have found their summer home – until Sept. 18 – at Castel Romano Designer Outlet. More than one hundred maxi sculptures of the Cracking Art movement, in a wide variety of sizes and bright colors, surprise visitors through squares, avenues, rooftops and secret passages, for a surprising itinerary that is the conduit to talk about art and sustainability.
The progressive discovery of the different sculptures is an original and fascinating way to tell adults and children about the themes of the contemporary world: sustainability, circularity, ethical culture and technological innovation. The works are made to solicit a collective reflection on the issues of the anthropogenic effect on the natural environment. Regenerating plastic means rescuing it from toxic and environmentally devastating destruction by giving it new life; making works of art out of it means communicating through an innovative aesthetic language, expressing a special sensitivity to nature.
The exhibition will be an opportunity for education and knowledge for visitors to McArthurGlen centers. Several activities designed for younger children, from the animal species treasure hunt (always active) to free creative workshops with an environmental theme, organized on the weekends of July 16, 23 and 30 and then again in September, on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
There are many stories these animals can tell. If the giant crocodile establishes a connection between extinctions due to natural phenomena to those we now risk due to human actions, the rain of frogs is a metaphor for unexpected climatic events. If the pack of wolves tells of the importance of group action intended for the collective good, the swallows-symbols par excellence of the rebirth of nature after the apparent lull of winter-descend to the ground to share the wish for a cultural rebirth in the spirit of sustainability. The spectacular dolphins remind us that to keep their incredible spectacle alive we must have utmost respect for the health of our seas.
