Aqueduct Park

Aqueduct Park is a park located in the south-east of Rome. He also received the adjective “green lungs of Rome”. Its name derives from the fact that here was the fundamental junction point of the water network of ancient Rome, where the aqueducts that supplied the capital with water intersected, joined and overlapped.

A walk in the park is a pleasant rest in an otherwise crowded city. You can relax in the shade of the trees or simply relax and observe the surrounding nature. However, you will surely be transported to the time when you return to the time of the ancient Romans. The architectural or engineering skills they already had at that time are admirable, because the system of aqueducts that they created has all the elements perfectly thought out.

In the area of ​​this park there are 7 aqueducts: the Anio Vetus, the Anio Novus, that of the Aqua Marcia, of the Tepula, the Aqueduct Iulia, that of the Aqua Claudia and the Happy Aqueduct. In addition to these aqueducts, there are several buildings in the park area, such as the Villa delle Vignacce, the Cascata di Roma Vecchia and the Villa dei Sette Bassi. Unfortunately, today most of the original aqueducts are no longer visible because many of them have been conducted underground or are covered by newer ones.
