The 9th Krakow Musical Autumn consists of the five meetings with chamber classical music. The organizers’ invitation to perform concerts was accepted by the Cracow Golden Quintet, Duo Fortecello, Włodzimierz Spodymek and Barbara Hortyńska, Volodja Balzalorsky and Aleksandar Serdar, and the Meccore String Quartet.
When planning the program of the ninth edition of the festival, the artistic directors decided to present for the first time instrumental ensembles that have not been hosted at the festival before. Therefore, this year you will be able to listen to a quintet of wind instruments and a duo of saxophone and piano. These ensembles will be presented in the context of the best-known chamber formations: string quartet and violin and cello duos with piano.
There will also be plenty of premieres and novelties – arrangements of works by Lutoslawski and Szymanowski written especially for the Cracow Golden Quintet will be presented to the public for the first time; we will also hear the world premiere of a work by Franciszek Araszkiewicz for cello and piano, commissioned and written under the “Composer’s Orders” program of the National Institute of Music and Dance. The invited ensembles will also perform works by Wojciech Kilar, Karol Szymanowski, Johannes Brahms, Robert Schumann, Astor Piazzolla and Krzysztof Penderecki.
Attending the concerts of the Krakow Musical Autumn is an offer to spend a unique time in Krakow.
