Gallery of Polish Design of the 20th and 21st century. The exhibition at the Szołayski House traces the history of Polish design from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries to the present day: from graphic design, through fashion, to furniture – 350 exhibits in all!
In the section devoted to the Second Polish Republic you will find designs maintained in the spirit of modernism and the avant-garde. The largest room presents fashion, and a separate room is devoted to the Polish poster of the twentieth century. Design from the People’s Republic of Poland could not be missing either, and the whole is crowned with projects from the period after 1989 – from those created for public space to Polish computer games.
From graphic design, through fashion and furniture, to computer games – the most interesting examples of Polish design of the last 120 years are presented at the permanent exhibition “Objects. Gallery of Polish Design of the 20th and 21st century”.
For the first time on a permanent exhibition, the National Museum in Krakow shows the most important achievements of Polish design, appreciating its significance and separateness from both fine arts and crafts. We present objects of everyday use, which today are considered icons, as well as outstanding works of Polish designers, which have permanently entered the canon of Polish design.
