Already on the first weekend of June (3-4.06), they will frolic, ride, dance, celebrate, amuse, maybe even frighten a little – the main characters of the only such festival in Poland. Ahead of us is the 22nd edition of the Great Dragon Parade organized by the Groteska Theater.
There have already been so many slogans for subsequent Parades that this time we decided to give absolute freedom to all Dragonologists. Let the 22nd GREAT PARADE OF DRAGONS go down in the pages of the Great History of Dragons as an everlasting event. Let the GREAT ODLOT be the starting point of the modern history of the dragon kingdom!
As tradition dictates, dragons will take over Krakow for the entire weekend. The Dragon Family Picnic will unfold on the boulevards by the Dragon’s Den (3-4.06). Visitors will be treated to exciting dragon games and activities, as well as numerous competitions and attractions in the tents of the picnic partners.
On Saturday, 3.06 at 10 p.m., in a bend of the Vistula River near Wawel Castle, a breathtaking Great Outdoor Spectacle will begin with pyrotechnic effects, astonishing light and laser setting, giant water curtains and beautiful music. The biggest attraction will be giant flying dragons, animated on barges and ships by Groteska Theater actors. As in previous years, this year’s Spectacle will have an eco-friendly formula.
The traditional Grand Parade of Dragons will set off on Sunday, 4.06 at 12 p.m. More than 30 dragons will walk down Grodzka Street to the Main Square. Some of them will compete on stage for the title of Most Beautiful.
The Grand Dragon Parade is an event organized since 2000 by the Groteska Theater. Its originator is the director of this theater, Adolf Weltschek. The event has become a permanent part of the cultural map of Krakow – it attracts not only the city’s residents, but also thousands of dragon lovers from all over Poland, Europe and the world. We invite you to come to Krakow!
