What could be better than combining cakes, coffee and books? Probably nothing, as it’s so relaxing to have a cup of your favorite drink while reading an interesting book. In Kraków we have several bookstore cafés that are happy to host you for a while (but please, don’t forget to buy something, anyway:). I’ve selected my favorite spots where you can enjoy a nice book and a cup of joy at the same time.

Lokator maintains the best traditions of Kraków’s café. It is one of the most popular bookstore café in the Kazimierz district, where besides basic items you can see the ones difficult to find in large network bookstores as well as a carefully prepared selection of children’s literature. Here you can enjoy good coffee with a piece of cake. The bookstore also organizes meetings with writers, books’ illustrators, and publishers. This all sounds really exciting to visit this place!

Massolit is an independent English-language bookstore with both used and new books and at the same time a literary café located in Krakow’s old town. They specialize in popular and academic books, most at significantly discounted prices, as well as having a rich offer of magazines in English.
Massolit was created in 2001 inspired by the tradition of café culture at the turn of the 19th and 20th century. This place has become a venue of many international literary meetings and events, exhibitions and political debates. Their home-made American cakes and great coffee or cocoa are also worth trying. It is definitely my favorite place to relax in Kraków so far.

This place is run by the Copernicus Centre in the 19th-century Larisch Mansion. Here you can quietly get lost in a book, have a good coffee or work on your laptop. They have a huge selection of books in the field of philosophy, carefully selected literature, independent, niche publications, sophisticated editorial and graphic books. Evenings and weekends are filled with meetings with authors, lectures on popular science, and philosophical and artistic workshops for children and adults.

This cafe is located in the heart of old Kazimierz. It is a perfect spacious place with books, excellent aromatic coffee, selected spirits, tasty snacks and organizing interesting meetings with artists from different areas. It is a place to spend free time hanging here, learning and meeting with friends and interesting strangers as well. Its hall has a very interesting arrangement as it is a work of designers who cooperate with the Nowy Proxima Theater located two floors above. The collection of several thousand literature titles can be found on over fifty bookshelves. You can hide on the mezzanine, surf the Internet, watch the traffic through large windows and even play popular board games in a specially arranged skylight room.

Located on the historic Kanonicza Street in the heart of Kraków’s Old Town, the atmosphere is all about the magic and spirit of the books here. You’ll enjoy aromatic coffee with a hint of magic, obviously!
