The Goral Folklore Festival in Ždiar was created as an event to preserve and present traditional Goral culture, customs, traditions and crafts. A place where many friends and acquaintances come together for good music, dancing and food. This year it will be the 28th edition and until its creation it has gained popularity and prestige not only in Slovakia, but also abroad.
The festivities offer the opportunity to learn about various Goral customs and traditions, such as shepherd games or traditional crafts and the way of life in the inhospitable conditions of the mountains. You will be enchanted by its environment directly under the Treetop Trail at an altitude of up to 1200 m above sea level in the Bachledka resort with an unrepeatable view of the Belianske Tatry Mountains, this event has a unique character.
Gorals will visit Bachledka to introduce visitors to their culture, history and crafts. In addition to traditional local culture, visitors can look forward to a star-studded programme.
IMT SMILE, LÚČNICA, MIRO JAROŠ, KRISTÍNA & SOKOLY, ŠTEFAN ŠTEC or Cimbalkovo will be guests at the feast of all the Gorals 1200 m above sea level right on Bachledka. Children can also enjoy concerts by Hopi, Cupi & Lupi or Miško and Liška.
In the first half of August, all Gorals will move to Bachledka to celebrate their holiday together from 9 to 11 August. The 28th edition of the Goral Folklore Festival awaits us, which will take place again this year at 1200 m above sea level, right at the entrance to the Treetop Trail.
All lovers of this exceptional Slovak culture will find their own place at Bachledka. The organisers have prepared for the public demonstrations of both old and contemporary Ždiary crafts, householders from neighbouring villages will bring their domestic animals, where families will be able to taste local homemade specialities made from milk or saddle a Goral gelding, in addition to feeding sheep and cows.
IMT SMILE AND KRISTÍNA WITH A TASTE OF MOUNTAIN CULTURE
The event will feature traditional Highland artists who will offer us an experience in the form of folklore, dances and singing. Goral culture will alternate with contemporary culture and everyone can look forward to stellar concerts. One of them will be an interesting joint concert of Kristina and Sokolov, folklore lovers will be delighted by Lúčnica and folk music of Štefan Štec. An unusual moment of connection between the tones of the dulcimer and children’s folklorists from all over Slovakia will be brought by the new Slovak family project Cimbalkovo, artists from the Cimbal Brothers group, and clever children from all over Slovakia will be led in a folklore rendition of modern songs by Veronika Hatala, who is already a traditional moderator of the whole event.
EXTRAORDINARY IMT SMILE CONCERT IN AN EXTRAORDINARY PLACE
It is not often that the audience can experience a concert of the most successful Slovak band IMT Smile at one of the festivals outside their tour. Therefore, the participation of Ivan Tásler and Co. at Bachledka is a unique opportunity for all those who simply love the songs of this band.
MIRO JAROŠ WILL VISIT BACHLEDKA
Almost 1200 metres above sea level, popular children’s performers will alternate with local theatre groups and children’s folklore ensembles. Miro Jaroš, Cupi & Lupi, Hopi and Miško and the Fox will prepare an extraordinary experience for the children.
SUNDAY WILL BELONG TO THE VILLAGE
The programme on Sunday will belong mainly to local artists. It will be opened with a holy mass and afterwards visitors will have a day full of magical Goral folklore and history.
CARVERS AND BUILDERS FROM SLAMA
