Why visit Café Dedo?
1. Exceptional location
The café is located right at the top of Lomnický štít in the High Tatras, at an altitude of approximately 2,634 m above sea level.
What can you see?
Gerlachovský štít – Slovakia’s highest peak (approx. 2,654 m) is located just a few kilometers from Lomnický štít.
The peaks of the main ridge of the High Tatras – almost the entire range of the Tatra Mountains, when visibility is good.
Belianske Tatras – on the opposite side, you can also see this part of the Tatras.
Down into the valleys – visibility towards the mountains and valleys.
2. Atmosphere and experience
In addition to the café itself, it is an experience: you take the cable car, arrive at the “top of the world,” and then sit down in comfort with a view of the mountains and the sky. At sunset or when stargazing, the sky here has a special charm.
3. Quality of the offer
The café offers coffee, drinks, and maybe even a little something to eat. You can also order a gourmet dinner and try, for example, shrimp in potato straws, lentil tartare, avocado dip, beef tartare, pumpkin cream with coconut milk, salmon, or vegetable ravioli.
4. Interesting and “once in a lifetime” activity
If you are looking for something special – a place that will stay in your memory – this is it.
Do you know why the café is called Dedo?
The name “Dedo” for the café on Lomnický štít has its roots in local tradition and history. According to the official description, this peak was called “Dedo” among the Tatranci – the local inhabitants of the High Tatras. Lomnický štít was once considered the highest peak in the region until 1837, when it was surpassed by Gerlachovský štít. From Kežmarok, the peak resembles a grandfather with a long nose and beard, which is also featured in the café’s logo.
And being in a café at an altitude of more than 2,600 m is simply an experience!
