Sightings recalls the last teacher of Italian cinema, who recently passed away, with a revisitation of the Shakespearean tragedy Romeo and Juliet. The Oscar-winning film (Pasquale de Santis for Best Photography and Danilo Donati for Best Costumes) introduced the world to Zeffirelli’s sumptuous aestheticism and his ability to translate the fascisno of the great theater into the language of the big screen. The film was also enhanced by the splendid soundtrack composed by a Nino Rota. The intense passion of the two protagonists, perfect in their roles, caused a sensation at the time for their very young age, little more than adolescents (15 years old her, 17 he). Zeffirelli has created an unforgettable blend of beauty, elegance, sensuality, adventure and action.
