Akira Yoshida opens his restaurant on Sunday, May 15. But it won’t be just any opening and you can’t miss it! You can look forward to a cherry blossom festival and a fashion show featuring antique vintage kimonos from the 1920s, rare original garments. The festival also includes a picture and photography exhibition on Japanese Hanami, sake-based cocktails and Japanese sweets.
Kimonos on the catwalk
Models will wear and walk down the catwalk with the precious kimonos of Antichi Kimono. In the centre of Rome, in those beautiful streets that until a few years ago were home only to artisans and antique dealers, we find Gloria Gobbi’s Aki atelier, a unique concept store. A vast selection of vintage kimonos, carefully chosen and selected one by one, precious fabrics reworked with skill and ingenuity. A careful selection of Japanese jewellery and bijoux between contemporary and avant-garde. In addition, many accessories such as belts, bags and handmade scarves to enter the world of Japanese fashion.
Japanese sweets, Sake, Cocktail List
Ramen Bar Akira in Via in Arcione 71, a stone’s throw from the Trevi Fountain, on Sunday May 15 is ready to welcome its guests with a special cocktail list based on sake and a dehors renovated for the occasion. It will be possible to taste Japanese sweets such as dorayaki in various fillings, mitarashi dango, mochi ice, daifuku mochi and much more, as well as Akira’s special Japanese aperitif.
Sake has always been a fundamental point in the offer of all Akira Yoshida’s venues and for an event of excellence it could not fail to be present. So guests will be able to choose from special signature cocktails and paired appetisers that will take those who cross the threshold of the Ramen Bar straight to Japan.
Hanami: the cherry blossom exhibition
On Sunday May 15, the cherry trees will be in bloom at Ramen Bar Akira in the Trevi Fountain with photos, paintings and installations dedicated to the most magical moment of the Japanese year.
