If you’re looking for a unique and completely free family-friendly program for the last Saturday of August, head to Városliget. On August 29, the Városligeti Mentőnap (Ambulance Day) will take place, where the National Ambulance Service will welcome visitors throughout the day with spectacular demonstrations, children’s activities, live music and a behind-the-scenes look at the work of emergency responders.
The event runs from 9:00 to 16:00 at the Városligeti Nagyrét, making it an ideal option for a full morning or even an entire day out with the family.
Spectacular rescue demonstrations
One of the highlights of the event will be the program at the Kresz Géza Main Stage. The day begins at 10:00 with a spectacular CPR demonstration, followed by a program introducing visitors to essential life-saving skills.
At 11:00, the rescue dogs of the Spider Rescue Team will take the stage, which is likely to be one of the biggest attractions for children. In the afternoon, a retro rescue demonstration will take place at 13:00, followed by a large-scale rescue demonstration at 14:15.
Plenty of activities for children
The event will also feature a dedicated children’s tent. The program starts at 9:00 with a special breakfast featuring cocoa and pastries, followed by a magic show by Dénes Ősz at 9:30. At 10:15, the Alma Ensemble will perform, while a children’s theatre show will take place in the afternoon.
From 10:00 to 15:00, children can also enjoy face painting, glitter tattoos and various craft activities.
Music and entertainment
Alongside the professional demonstrations, the event will also offer plenty of lighter entertainment. At noon, the Inti Raymi band will provide the music, while SENA will close the main stage program at 15:00.
The day will also include award ceremonies for the cooking competition and football tournament.
One of the best things about Városligeti Mentőnap is that it combines entertainment with useful knowledge. You can see how emergency responders work, meet rescue dogs, learn about both traditional and modern rescue techniques, and gain valuable knowledge about CPR and first aid.
Children will also have plenty to keep them entertained throughout the day, making the event easy to combine with a family outing around Városliget.
