If you love discovering unique flavours and exploring new culinary experiences, make sure to visit Cheese Budapest on October 17–18! Held at the Rákóczi Square Market Hall, this event invites visitors to explore the world of Hungarian artisan cheeses, passionate cheesemakers, and exciting flavour combinations. Tastings, local producers, workshops, talks, and music will make this a delicious weekend experience.
The event puts Hungarian cheesemakers and their products in the spotlight. Visitors can sample and purchase a variety of cheeses while meeting the passionate producers behind these delicacies. On Sunday, 24 Hungarian cheesemakers will showcase their products, offering a great opportunity to discover new favourites and take home something special.
Great cheese deserves the perfect drink! At the event, you can explore exciting pairings with wine, craft beer, tea, and fermented drinks. The themed tastings will reveal surprising flavour combinations, from cheese and tea to cheese and beer, and even cheese and whisky.
On Saturday evening, special tasting sessions requiring advance ticket purchase will be available:
4:00–5:30 PM: Cheese and beer tasting featuring First Craft Beer.
6:00–7:15 PM: Cheese and fermented drinks tasting led by Marcell Márton.
7:30–9:00 PM: Wine and cheese tasting featuring a premium selection, presented by Csaba Harmath and Emese Domián.
The programme will also feature raclette tastings and a cheese market. Advance tickets are required to participate in the special tasting sessions.
Cheese Budapest is about more than just flavours—it is also an opportunity to learn and discover. Visitors can join guided cheese tours and wine-and-cheese walks, as well as discover traditional parenyica cheese stretching and mozzarella making. Talks on cheese culture, history, and the characteristics of different regions of origin are also planned.
Those who enjoy a little friendly competition can test their knowledge with a cheese quiz and a cheese-identification challenge. Families can also visit a dedicated children’s area featuring games, tastings, and educational activities.
The event will conclude with the Sajtmustra cheese awards ceremony and the ceremonial cutting of the 2026 Cheese of the Year.
