Throughout his career, Lloyd Cole has uncompromisingly defied expectations. Whether as the lead singer of the soulful The Commotions, as a rock artist in the 80s or as a country-scented singer-songwriter. Since 2019 and the excellent ‘Guesswork’, however, Lloyd Cole has been exploring a kind of sophisticated synthpop – a journey that continued on his twelfth solo album ‘On Pain’ released earlier this year. But regardless of genre and setting, much remains the same when it comes to the iconic Briton’s work. Like his literary lyrics, his undeniable songwriting talent and his melodic accuracy. Thus, unlike many of his generational peers, Cole has managed to maintain a relevance beyond nostalgia over the decades.

Lloyd Cole was supposed to visit Sweden a couple of years ago, but the concert coincided with a certain pandemic and had to be postponed. Now, with the brand new album ‘On Pain’ in the luggage, it will finally happen! In January, the always relevant Lloyd Cole will play in two places on Swedish soil – on January 17 at Göta Lejon in Stockholm, and on January 18 at Stora Teatern in Gothenburg.
