No romantic walk can be imagined without getting lost in the beauty of Buda castle. This is a real fairytale castle with a view, which will amaze you no matter how many times you have seen it before. There are several cafes and restaurants here, where you can enjoy your dinner accompanied by a great glass of Hungarian wine.
During summer, the lake of the City Park operates as a boating lake (during winter time it is an ice-skating rink), which is a perfect place to hide away from the world and enjoy the tranquility. What’s more, you can rent a boat from 30 minutes to a whole day if you’d like.
Want to amaze your partner with the nightlights of Budapest? Then make a reservation at Panorama Restaurant, which will show you the breathtaking view of the city from one of the highest places in Budapest. It is especially beautiful when the sun goes down, coloring the sky pink and orange.
It is always worth going to this café, even if it is crowded sometimes. Located in the 260 years old, historical building of New York Palace, it has one of the most beautiful interiors you could ever see.
You can easily reach Szentendre by public transportation and it takes only about 50-60 minutes from the city centre. Simply just take the HEV from Batthyány square. The town on the banks of the Danube is a real treasure, walking through its ancient cobbled streets you might feel like you’re in a cosy Mediterranean seaside town. Szentendre has a great, warm vibe, cute and narrow streets with many handicrafts and interesting museums.
Budapest is a must-see by boat too, you just cannot miss it. Along the Danube, many companies offer boat trips, often with dinner served on board, so you can have a truly romantic evening, while also enjoying a magnificent view of both the Buda and Pest sides of the city.
Roman Beach is located at the northern tip of Buda. It is only 15 minutes from the city centre and can be reached by bus or BKK boat. There are several large pubs you can find on the beach where you can enjoy a variety of local delicacies in the fresh air. It’s a beautiful and peaceful part of the city where you can take a romantic stroll.
Another idyllic spot in the city is Lake Feneketlen. Perfect for a picnic or a morning run. There’s also a great restaurant here, Hemingway, which can be the perfect end to a nice day out. It’s also worth a visit in the evening, when the night lights illuminate the lake making a special atmosphere.
Tram 2 runs through the most famous parts of the city, along the river. With short stops, you can enjoy a “free” hop-on, hop-off experience for the price of a public transport ticket. There are a number of great restaurants along the line, so you can choose according to your needs, but it’s worth choosing one with views of the Buda side. An excellent one, for example, is the Dubarry Restaurant.
One of the most romantic places to have a delicious and quick breakfast is the Jégbüfé, a traditional coffee spot that has been operating since 1952. The coffee shop is located in the heart of the city, in a unique building built in the early 20th century. No doubt a wonderful place for a romantic breakfast.
